Former lawmaker dies
Samaila Dalhat, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Kankia/Ingawa/Kusada federal constituency of Katsina State, has died.
Dalhat’s death was confirmed by political stakeholders in Katsina State on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

The former lawmaker represented the constituency in the National Assembly, where he served as a federal legislator from Katsina State.

Ashafa Saulawa, the national secretary of the 25 Million Youth Awareness for Better Nigeria, was among those who mourned the former lawmaker.
In a condolence message shared on Thursday morning, August 20, Saulawa described Dalhat as a respected and kind-hearted person.
Saulawa expressed sympathy to members of Dalhat’s family, friends, political associates and the wider Katsina community over the loss.
He also prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
The youth organisation’s national secretary further prayed for strength and patience for the family and other people affected by Dalhat’s death.
Other individuals also took to social media to mourn the former representative, with several messages describing his death as a painful loss to those who knew and worked with him.
