Ghana launches app to help citizens verify marital status during dating

The Ghanaian government has launched a new application that allows people to check the marital status of their partners before deciding to marry.

The app, Marrify, was introduced by the Ministry of Gender in partnership with MarryRight, an agency specialising in family law and marriage.

Speaking at the launch, Ghana’s Minister of Gender, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, said the platform would help people make better-informed decisions about marriage.

She said the initiative would also encourage relationships built on respect and help tackle gender-based violence.
