Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bauchi State, has resigned his membership of the party.
Kashim’s resignation took effect on October 16, 2026, according to a statement he released to announce his decision.
The former governorship candidate made the announcement in a statement titled A Message to My Supporters and the Good People of Bauchi State, which was circulated on social media.
He did not disclose the reason for leaving the party or reveal his next political move. He also did not state whether he would continue pursuing his governorship ambition under another political platform.
Despite his decision to leave the NDC, Kashim maintained that his commitment to the political struggle for the development of Bauchi State remained unchanged.
He explained that his decision followed careful consideration of his political journey and the future he wanted for the people of the state.
According to him, Bauchi State needs purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, more opportunities for young people and women, improved security, and an environment where citizens can live with dignity and hope.
Kashim also assured his supporters that his resignation from the NDC would not mark the end of his political activities, adding that his ambition to contribute to the development of the state remained alive.
He expressed his determination to continue working with individuals and groups who share his vision of building a peaceful and prosperous Bauchi State with a strong economy.
The former candidate further urged his supporters to remain calm, united and committed to their shared goals while awaiting further information about his political plans.
He said he would communicate the next stage of their political journey at the appropriate time.
Kashim also maintained that his political mission was focused on the welfare of the people rather than membership of any particular party.
