According to the PSC, the postings were made in accordance with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the commission to appoint Commissioners of Police for state commands and the Federal Capital Territory.

The commission’s chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd.), was represented at the confirmation of the postings by a board member, Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (retd.).

Argungu said the officers had been found suitable for their new responsibilities following the interviews. He urged them to remain impartial and demonstrate professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Meanwhile, the Force Headquarters has directed six Commissioners of Police to submit their individual retirement notices after determining that they had reached the statutory retirement age.

The directive was reportedly communicated through an internal police signal issued by the Office of the Force Secretary. It instructed the affected officers to begin the retirement process in line with public service regulations.

The instruction followed concerns over the continued service of officers considered to have reached the mandatory retirement age of 60.

According to reports, the affected commissioners were asked to submit their retirement notices to the Police Service Commission for the necessary processing.

The six officers named in reports on the retirement directive are CP Adamu A. Elleman, CP Abdullateef A. Yusuf, CP Lasisi A. Titilola, CP Markus Ishaku Basiran, CP Ajayi Oluyemi and CP Sylvester Onyie Uzouefuna.
