High life music legend Victor Olaiya dies at 90

Notable High life music Legend Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya, has died at the ripe old age of 90.

Bimbo Esho, Managing Director of Evergreen Music Company Ltd, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday.

“We pray that the soul of the Doyen of Highlife music finds repose with his creator while wishing the family and entire music community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss”, he said.

The veteran had passed away at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Wednesday afternoon.

His most popular hit song is Baby Jowo, which has Musician 2Baba on the remix some years ago. It has also been sampled by many other artistes.
