The Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council and associate of Peter Obi, Doyin Okupe, has given a 2 and a half year sentence over money laundering.

Okupe was sentenced by a federal high court in Abuja for breaching the Money Laundering Act.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu presiding over the case on Monday found Okupe guilty of contravening sections 16(1)(2) of the Money Laundering Act and accepting cash in excess of the threshold allowed under the Act without going through a financial institution.

In a video seen by Dockaysworld, Okupe’s lawyer cautioned Prison staff who attempted to remand his client in jail.

According to reports the judgement will be appealed by the associate of Peter Obi who’s camp has been hit by the news.
