Pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has called upon Biafra agitators to observe a 40-day ceasefire period in a bid to advance negotiations for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

This appeal was conveyed through a statement released on Saturday.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo expressed its optimism about ongoing confidential negotiations, suggesting the potential for Nnamdi Kanu to regain his freedom by the end of 2023.

The apex Igbo organization emphasized the critical need for the Biafra agitators to halt all offensive actions for 40 days, as this is perceived as a crucial step toward securing Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

The group firmly believes that engaging with relevant authorities through diplomatic means remains the most effective path to achieve the desired outcomes.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo also extended an appeal to Nigerians who may have been offended by Nnamdi Kanu’s actions, encouraging them to embrace forgiveness and prioritize the greater interests of Nigeria.
