Daniel Bwala, one of the spokespersons of the Atiku Campaign Council in the 2023 general elections, seems to be returning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Borno-born legal practitioner visited President Bola Tinubu yesterday and praised the Nigerian leader for his recent policy decisions.

“In the last few days, I have been expressing my surprise and appreciation to the president for the decisions he is taking. So this is not about political party. And you need to know that like I said, I was with him before I left.

“And I was doggedly committed to him. I told him today that ‘I am committing to play my part to support your administration’, and I have no apologies to anybody,” Bwala told State House correspondents.

Only a few days ago, Bwala said his principal, Atiku Abubakar, would contest the presidency again under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027 presidential election.

Atiku, 77, Nigeria’s former vice president, has contested for the presidency six times.

The Adamawa-born politician has had to endure many betrayals since he lost the 2023 presidential contest.

Among those who have dumped him are Nyesom Wike; who is now the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide; Ben Murray-Bruce, a former senator from Bayelsa; Olisa Metuh, former PDP national publicity secretary; and former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim.

Interestingly, Adamawa state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, seems to have also moved on from the election after he openly congratulated Atiku’s political rival Wike, for emerging as the FCT minister.

The governor’s congratulatory message angered Atiku loyalists, but Fintiri seemed not to care.

The camp of the former vice president has not yet reacted to Bwala’s visit to the president, but supporters of the former vice president have already started chiding the lawyer on social media.

Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar, Director General of the Atiku Light Organization, wrote on X:
