The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) terminated the employment of 50 staff members on Monday, April 8.
Recall Dockaysworld reported the apex bank sacked over 40 workers some days ago, making a total of 117 dismissals since Cardoso’s appointment.
The affected persons range from directors to lower-ranking staff, sparking concerns among employees over the lack of clear criteria for the decisions.

Sources within the bank revealed that the termination letters, citing “reorganizational and human capital restructuring,” have caused palpable apprehension among the workforce, with no standardized explanation provided by the management.
Despite repeated attempts to seek clarification, CBN officials have remained tight-lipped on the matter, leaving employees in limbo.
According to insider reports, the termination spree is expected to continue until the end of April, leaving many staff members feeling targeted without justification.
Several affected employees expressed frustration over the alleged indiscriminate application of policies by the current management, leading to fears of further dismissals across various departments.
Amidst the uncertainty, some directors have signaled their intent to challenge their dismissals, citing lack of wrongdoing on their part.
