The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has postponed the National Council for Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy meeting, which was originally scheduled to take place in Osun State from February 25 to 27, 2025.
The decision was made due to political tensions in the state following the recent local government elections. Minister Mohammed Idris communicated the postponement through an internal memo, informing state commissioners, heads of departments, and other stakeholders.
The memo cited the “tense situation in Osun State” and instructed all concerned parties to take note of the postponement. A new date for the meeting will be announced later. The ministry also urged recipients to widely circulate the information.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won all chairmanship and councillorship seats in Osun State’s 30 local government areas. The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Hashim Abioye, confirmed the results and said certified copies would be made available upon request.
On Sunday, Governor Ademola Adeleke inaugurated the newly elected local government officials, urging them to focus on good governance and warning against any attempts to forcibly take over council secretariats.
