Explosion rocks Rivers

An explosion has rocked the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, causing a fire in the affected section.

According to Vanguard, the blast occurred on Monday night, and authorities are still investigating the cause.

This explosion comes amid rising political tensions in Rivers State.

The Niger Delta Youth Council (NDYC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu, demanding the restoration of the state’s revenue allocations, the cessation of impeachment efforts against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and a public retraction of remarks allegedly made by former Governor Nyesom Wike about the Ijaw people.

The NDYC has warned that failure to meet these demands will lead to the shutdown of oil production in the region, which would significantly affect the national economy.

Additionally, the Niger Delta Development Force (NDDF), a militant group, has threatened to target oil installations if the federal government continues its interference in the state’s administration.
