Why Tinubu Can’t Return To Nigeria Despite Killings – Presidency

The Presidency has revealed why President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not returned to Nigeria despite the rising security issues in some parts of the country.

At least 144 Nigerians have been reportedly killed by herdsmen in various communities across Plateau and Benue states.

The tragic development has sparked outrage nationwide, with many, including former presidential candidate Peter Obi, criticizing President Bola Tinubu.

Obi and others have urged the president to cut short his holiday in France and return to Nigeria to urgently address the escalating security crisis

But according to the presidency, Tinubu is still actively leading the country from abroad and remains in close contact with top government officials.

The President, who travelled to Paris and later moved to London, is expected to return after the Easter holiday. The Presidency explained that his trip was already scheduled and is meant to last for about two weeks.

Even though he is not physically in the country, Tinubu is said to be managing key national matters, including security, from where he is. He has reportedly given direct instructions to security chiefs to handle the recent threats and unrest.

Some Nigerians have questioned his absence during a period of crisis, but the Presidency insists that there has been no break in governance. They said Tinubu’s commitment to leading the country remains strong and that all parts of the government are functioning normally in his absence.

The update further assured citizens that Tinubu will return to the Aso Villa after the Easter celebrations, and that he has not stepped away from his responsibilities at any point.
