Nigerian bank increases SMS alert fee

FirstBank customers will now pay more for transaction SMS alerts as the bank has announced an upward review of its alert fee from ₦4 to ₦6 per message.

The bank attributed the new rate to increased charges from telecom service providers.

It stressed that the decision was made to ensure uninterrupted delivery of financial transaction updates, which are critical for customer awareness and account security.

Despite the hike, FirstBank reassured customers of its commitment to providing quality service and minimizing inconvenience.
