A controversial report has emerged following the death of Nigerian business magnate and elder statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, alleging that the late billionaire barred his widow, Frances Chinonyerem Enwerem, from remarrying in his will or risk forfeiting her inheritance.
This was revealed in a recent report by anonymous Nigerian blogger, Gistlover.
Chief Iwuanyanwu, who died on July 25, 2024, after a brief illness, was one of Nigeria’s most prominent figures in both the political and business landscapes.
Known for his immense influence in the South-East region, particularly in Imo State, he was celebrated for his contributions to infrastructure development, sports, and philanthropy.
The reported clause in his will, if true, stipulates that Frances his much younger wife must not remarry to maintain access to the estate bequeathed to her.
However, as of press time, no official statement has been released by the Iwuanyanwu family, their legal representatives, or the executors of the estate confirming or denying this claim.
Chief Iwuanyanwu married Frances Chinonyerem Enwerem in September 2013, at the age of 72, while she was just 26.
Their union, which generated significant media attention due to the 46-year age gap, endured for over a decade until his passing.
Speculation over the contents of the late billionaire’s will has grown in recent weeks, particularly on social media, where unverified claims have circulated suggesting the widow faces a difficult choice between love and legacy.
