2023 APC governorship candidate dumps party for ADC
The 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Ahmed, also known as Binani, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former senator arrived in Yola on Saturday, July 19, and quietly announced her move to the ADC.
Her media aide, Maulud Usman, confirmed the development on Sunday, explaining that the announcement was made in a private gathering with her close associates.
A bigger public event is being planned for a later date.
Binani, who represented Adamawa Central in the Senate from 2019 to 2023, became the APC’s governorship candidate in 2022 after defeating five male contenders.
She narrowly lost to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election.
Her decision to join the ADC comes shortly after former Vice President and PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was also linked to the same party.
Sources say both politicians are now working together and are expected to return to Yola next month for a joint political event that will officially launch their alliance under the ADC platform.
