Two Nollywood stars die within 24 hours


The Yoruba movie industry was thrown into mourning last week following the sudden deaths of two of its actors, Omotola Odunsi and Odunayo Olufemi, popularly known as Oloto.

Omotola Odunsi, a rising star in the Yoruba movie scene, died shortly after informing a colleague that she was recovering from an illness.

The actress, known for her role in Lisabi: The Uprising and other Yoruba films, reportedly began acting while studying at Olabisi Onabanjo University.

She was later trained under Odunlade Adekola and featured in several productions including Amonata, Officer Adaeze, and Ifedayo.

Her cause of death has not been made public.

Fellow actors have taken to social media to mourn her.

Some recalled recent moments shared with her on movie sets, while others expressed disbelief over her sudden death.

A day after Odunsi’s death was announced, another actor, Odunayo Olufemi, popularly known as Oloto, was confirmed dead.

Actor Kunle Afod shared that Oloto had gone to church but later felt unwell.

He then walked to a nearby hospital where he died while speaking to the receptionist.

Friends and colleagues described both deaths as painful and shocking, calling their sudden exit a heavy blow to the Yoruba movie industry.
