KWAM 1 breaks silence on airport incident after FG placed him on No-fly list
Fuji legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate or KWAM 1, has denied reports alleging unruly conduct during an attempt to board a ValueJet flight on August 5, 2025.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, the claims that K1 breached aviation protocol or endangered passengers were described as exaggerated and misleading.
The statement explained that the substance at the centre of the controversy was plain drinking water, served to him at the airport lounge, and not alcohol as speculated.
It also dismissed reports that the veteran artiste blocked the aircraft or disrupted operations, noting that he is a frequent traveller who strictly follows aviation rules.
According to the aide, if K1 had acted improperly, officials from FAAN and NCAA, as well as the airline’s management, would not have apologized to him and offered a complimentary private jet to Lagos, an offer he turned down.
The statement stressed that K1 was the victim in the incident, with his personal assistant being the only other person directly involved.
Lounge staff reportedly confirmed the contents of the flask after he opened it at the foot of the plane.
It added that the pilot involved has since had her licence suspended and may be trying to shift blame.
K1 has pledged to cooperate fully with authorities to ensure the matter is responsibly resolved, while urging the media and public to rely on facts instead of assumptions.
K1’s daughter, Dami Marshall, also reacted, criticising FAAN for allegedly making false claims and challenging the agency to provide evidence of its alcohol allegation.
Meanwhile, aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has ordered the NCAA to place K1 on a domestic and international six-month no-fly list while notifying all airlines.
He warned that any airline that flouts the ban risks losing its operating licence.
The NCAA has also petitioned AGF Lateef Fagbemi and IGP Kayode Egbetokun to prosecute K1 under aviation laws, stressing that passenger misconduct will not be tolerated.
