Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed the reason for his recent visit to London, Dockaysworld reports.
The leader of the upper legislative chamber clarified that his recent trip to London was only for a short vacation.
Akpabio, who returned to Nigeria through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 4:00 a.m. on Monday, was received at the presidential wing by senators, aides, and supporters.
Addressing journalists on arrival, he dismissed reports that he had been critically ill and hospitalised abroad, describing them as “pure imagination.”
“There’s nothing like that. I’m fit as a fiddle. I only stopped over in London for a short vacation,” the Senate President stated.
Before travelling to the United Kingdom, Akpabio had attended the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, where he said the Nigerian delegation championed stronger democratic governance and enhanced collaboration between arms of government.
He assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would resume with “robust legislative engagements” when lawmakers return from recess.
