Former Kano State governor and ex-APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed reports that he intends to join the African Democratic Congress.
The spokesperson for Ganduje, Edwin Olofu, stated that the politician remains a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress and has no plans to leave the party or abandon President Bola Tinubu.
Speculation about Ganduje’s exit arose after he stepped down as APC chairman on June 27, 2025, citing health reasons.
Even though those familiar with the matter said his resignation followed a disagreement with President Bola Tinubu over his stewardship of the party.
Olofu clarified that Ganduje’s recent visit to the new APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, was partly personal and partly a condolence call.
He added that Ganduje expressed support for Yilwatda and promised assistance whenever needed, reinforcing his commitment to the party’s unity.
The spokesperson also said any meetings between Ganduje and President Tinubu following his resignation could only be confirmed by Ganduje himself.
Olofu reiterated that reports suggesting Ganduje’s defection were false and should be ignored.
