Founder and pioneer National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has revealed that the party currently boasts 28 senators and over 100 elected officials across various levels of government.
Dockaysworld reports that the ADC is the platform which opposition politicians have chosen to form a coalition to take over power from the ruling APC in 2027.
Speaking during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, Nwosu credited the party’s rising political stature to its refusal to succumb to financial inducements allegedly offered to weaken its opposition role.
“We have resisted pressures from within and outside the country. While others try to buy influence, ADC leaders stood firm,” he said. “Today, we have 28 senators, 46 members in the House of Representatives, and over 50 members in State Houses of Assembly. In total, the ADC now has more than 100 elected officials.”
According to Nwosu, the party’s commitment to democratic ideals and its opposition to the emergence of a one-party state in Nigeria has drawn widespread national support, particularly among young Nigerians. He said the party’s membership database has been overwhelmed by new registrations, forcing multiple system upgrades.
Meanwhile, the party’s Interim National Chairman, David Mark, expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their continued support and pledged to uphold transparency, equity, and inclusive leadership.
He announced that the party would soon constitute a 50-member Policy Committee to define ADC’s governance blueprint across sectors such as education, healthcare, technology, security, and infrastructure.
Mark further reiterated the party’s commitment to internal democracy, revealing plans for structural reforms including 35 percent affirmative action for women and increased youth representation.
“The ADC remains the political platform that truly represents all Nigerians, regardless of age, gender, religion, or region,” he said.
