Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has reacted to the defection of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shortly after the defection was made public, Governor Eno visited Akpabio at his residence in Uyo.
In a video that captured the moment, the two leaders were seen exchanging greetings warmly as APC members and supporters welcomed the governor.
Eno arrived in high spirits, surrounded by a delegation of APC governors and allies.
Earlier in the day, Governor Eno announced his defection to the APC during a ceremony held at the Akwa Ibom Government House.
The event was attended by several governors, including Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, and Monday Okpebholo of Edo.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu followed the development closely from Lagos.
The defection means the APC now controls Akwa Ibom, leaving Bayelsa and Rivers as the only South-South states still under PDP leadership.
