Samuel Anyanwu has declared that he is still the authentic National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said no group or individual within the party has the power to remove him from the position.
He made this known during a Southeast PDP stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday, amid rising tensions over who should occupy the seat.
The crisis began after Anyanwu stepped aside to run for the Imo State governorship election, which he eventually lost.
Following his absence, the Southeast PDP Caucus nominated Sunday Ude-Okoye to take over the role.
This move sparked disagreements, with some PDP leaders backing Ude-Okoye and others still recognizing Anyanwu as the rightful secretary.
Speaking on the matter, Anyanwu made it clear that he would only resign if governors from the party, including Governor Peter Mbah, could prove that he had received any form of bribe or personal benefit from them.
According to him, no such transaction has ever taken place, and unless someone publicly proves otherwise, he has no intention of stepping down.
He said:
“I am the only National Secretary of the PDP, and no force, not even a Julius Berger crane, can remove me from this position. I dare Governor Peter Mbah and every PDP Governor to publicly say if I have taken a bottle of water from them. If anyone does, I will resign immediately.”
