APC Chairman Reportedly Suspended

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has suspended its state chairman, Hon. Aliyu Bello, following a decision by the party’s Gayam Ward in Lafia Local Government.

Ibrahim Ilyasu, the ward chairman, announced at a press briefing on Tuesday that Bello was found to have breached Article 21 of the APC constitution.

Specifically, the ward alleges Bello was actively promoting and campaigning for a candidate from a rival political party, actions that allegedly brought the APC into disrepute.

Citing evidence of this behavior, they declared his suspension effective immediately and ordered him to stop representing or claiming membership of the party from Gayam Ward.

The ward executives expressed concerns that Bello’s alleged anti-party activities had damaged the APC’s reputation and undermined its values of loyalty and discipline.

They demanded that he refrain from identifying as an APC official pending the outcome of the investigation.

This suspension comes just 24 hours after APC’s State Publicity Secretary, Otaru Douglas, suggested it was a covert attempt orchestrated by a governorship hopeful aiming to remove Bello.

An emergency party meeting in Lafia even showed a vote of confidence in Bello’s leadership.

So, while Gayam Ward has moved to suspend Aliyu Bello for alleged disloyalty, other segments of the party maintain their support for him.
