APC Makes Fresh Announcement On Fubara

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it is ready to welcome Governor Siminalayi Fubara if he decides to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC state chairman, Chief Emeka Beke, stated that Fubara’s defection would benefit both the governor and the party, especially as it could give the APC more influence in the state.

This offer comes amid growing speculation that Fubara may switch parties as part of a peace deal to resolve the political crisis that led to his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

Beke, speaking through his Chief of Staff Chizi Enyi, said having Fubara in the APC would strengthen the party’s role in Rivers governance, especially since governors usually lead the party in their state.

Beke also noted that opposition parties often struggle with getting access to funding and participation in government activities, so having the governor on their side would be an advantage.

He added that if Fubara joins the APC, they would be willing to offer advice and support to help improve governance in the state.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Elders and Leaders Council says it is not interested in political party matters but only wants Fubara restored to office.

A member of the council, Anabs Sara-Igbe, said the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) as Sole Administrator of the state is unconstitutional and unacceptable.

He stated that Rivers people are more concerned about getting their elected governor back than about any potential party switch.

Fubara’s media aide, Jerry Omatsogunwa, confirmed that talks between the governor and his former ally, now Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, are ongoing but not yet conclusive.

He also said there’s currently no confirmation that the governor plans to join the APC.
