Liverpool fell to a disappointing defeat in the first leg of their UCL last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid.

The Reds were back at the scene of last year’s final success, the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, as they faced Atletico in their knockout clash.

Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders went behind in the fourth minute. The Reds failed to clear a corner and Saul
Niguez was on hand to tap home from close range.

And the English visitors were almost caught out when a Virgil  vanDijk mistake allowed Alvaro Morata in, but Alisson saved  thestriker’s low shot before Liverpool grew into the game.

However tvisitors piled the pressure on in the second half but were unable to find a much-needed away goal and now have it all to do at Anfield in their bid to retain their European crown.
