The group behind the mutiny, led by Colonel Pascal Tigri, reportedly targeted homes of high-ranking military officials in an effort to remove or capture top commanders.

During the operation, members of the Security and Defense Forces quickly moved to safer locations, preventing further abductions.

While the Army Chief of Staff and another officer were briefly held hostage, they were later released after a counter-operation by loyal military forces.

Colonel Faïzou Gomina, Commander of the National Guard, condemned the attack and called for all involved to be brought to justice.

He described the successful release of the hostages as proof of the army’s readiness and courage.

Authorities have launched investigations to identify and arrest those responsible for the mutiny and are working to restore security in the country.
