Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti was in the stands to watch Arsenal beat Manchester United.
Umtiti was among the sell-out crowd at the Emirates as goals from Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis secured the 2-0 victory.
It was also Mikel Arteta’s first win as Arsenal manager, as the Gunners began the new decade with a winning touch.
Arsenal’s attention will now turn to the transfer window, with a new centre-half on the radar.
They have been linked with Dayot Upamecano, but fans might get excited by the prospect of Umtiti after his appearance at the Emirates.
While Umtiti is not thinking of a move right now, last month he admitted to Spanish publication that he is interested in a move back to his former club Lyon.
Speaking of his future plans, Umtiti said:
“I’d like to be a coach. I take notes from those I’ve worked under, their training sessions and what they do. “Returning to Lyon is a possibility, as a player or as a coach.”
