President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeira (CJN), Walter Onnoghen and appointed Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed as acting CJN.
The President took this action pending the completion of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
President Buhari announced the suspension at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.

He said that the action was prompted by the order of the CCT which directed him to suspend the CJN till the trip was complete.
Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed has now been sworn in as acting CJN. He is currently the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court.
