Mega Afro beat act, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy has narrowly missed out on making history after losing the prestigious Grammy to legendary singer, Angelique Kidjo.
This award would have made Burna Boy the second Nigerian in history to win the coveted award after renowned drummer, Sikiru Adepoju, who won the award in 2009.
He won it for an album titled Global Drum Project at the 2009 Grammy Awards alongside Mickey Hart, Giovanni Hidalgo and Zakir Hussein.
Other Nigerians who have been nominated include Seun Kuti, Femi Kuti, King Sunny Ade and Babatunde Olatunji.
Burna Boy’s album ‘African Giant’ was nominated on the 20th of November alongside other acts like former Grammy winner, Angelique Kidjo, Jules Buckley, Altin Gün and Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet.
