CBN issues fresh directive on naira notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has once again warned the public against damaging the country’s currency through spraying, hawking, or mutilation.

This reminder came during the CBN Fair held in Kaduna, aimed at educating citizens on the bank’s policies and programs.

At the event, the Governor of CBN, Olayemu Cardoso, through the bank’s Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, told attendees that the Naira must be kept clean and protected as a national symbol.

The governor stressed that citizens should rely only on verified information from official CBN channels and avoid any action that compromises the currency.

The fair, themed “Driving Alternative Payment Channels as Tools for Financial Inclusion, Growth and Accelerated Economic Development,” focused on linking the bank’s initiatives to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and promote economic stability.

The bank explained that public awareness of its policies can help improve livelihoods and contribute to Nigeria’s overall economic growth.

This Kaduna event is part of CBN’s ongoing public enlightenment campaign to sensitize citizens on proper handling of currency and the importance of the bank’s interventions in the financial sector.
