The new national chairman of the PDP Tanimu Turaki has called on United States President Donald Trump to wade into the party’s crisis in Nigeria.
He made this known after fresh violence at PDP headquarters on Tuesday.
Police fired tear gas and warning shots as rival factions clashed outside Wadata Plaza during a fierce struggle for control of the PDP.
Recall that Donald Trump threatened invasion recently if alleged Christian genocide in the country didn’t stop. The national chairman has now asked him to intercede to save democracy also.
Dockaysworld gathered that the confrontation escalated when the Anyanwu–Abdulrahman faction attempted to prevent Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed from entering the secretariat.
Despite the blockade, both governors arrived with Turaki and pushed their way inside with the help of their security escorts.
They headed straight to the NEC Hall, where the Abdulrahman-led group was already holding a separate meeting.
Turaki later told journalists that the disruptions caused by opposing actors forced his camp to postpone its meeting to Wednesday.
The National chairman restated his assertion from his inauguration that he was ready to die for the sake of democracy. The tussle in the PDP countries to intensify as 2027 approaches.
