Coup d’etat: Military take over Gabon(Video)

A coup d’etat is currently ongoing in the country of Gabon as Military have taken over. .

The soldiers have claimed that the reason for their actions is “to restore democracy” as they took control of the National radio station early Monday morning. 

Gabon, an oil-rich state where the President’s family has ruled for 50 years has been seized by the military who read a short statement declaring a “National Restoration Council”. 

In its statement on Monday, the military officers condemned President Ali Bongo who addressed his compatriots last Monday from Morocco for the first time since suffering a stroke in October. They described the message as “a pitiful sight” and a “relentless attempt to cling onto power.”

According to reports, shots have been fired in Gabon’s capital, Libreville as military vehicles have swarmed the region.
