A 23-year-old man, Abidemi Emmanuel, has been remanded in a correctional facility after being arraigned for the alleged rape of Lagos-based content creator Fems Thrift and her friend.
Emmanuel was arraigned on Tuesday before a magistrate’s court in Lagos State. The court adjourned the case to March 19, 2026, for further hearing.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the suspect was remanded following his arraignment and that investigations were still ongoing.
“The suspect has been arraigned and remanded in a correctional facility. The case has been adjourned till March 19, 2026. Investigation is still ongoing,” she said.
The case stems from an incident reported to have occurred on February 8, 2026, at Ajao Estate, where Emmanuel allegedly lured the victims under the guise of offering a modelling job.
According to earlier reports, the suspect allegedly contacted Fems Thrift via Instagram, claiming he had relocated from the United Kingdom to launch an international fashion brand in Nigeria.
He reportedly offered her N140,000 for a modelling engagement and requested that she use her social media platform to promote the brand.
Fems later alleged in a viral video that she and her friend went to the apartment around 11 a.m. for the supposed job, only to find the place empty before the suspect attacked them and sexually assaulted them.
She further claimed that he confiscated their phones and threatened to release private materials online if they reported the incident.
Following widespread reactions on social media, the police arrested Emmanuel on February 14, 2026.
The matter is currently being handled by the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command as investigations continue ahead of the next court date.
