Gomez held the title since 2016 after overtaking Ariana Grande, who currently has 132 million followers.
But Ronaldo who at the time of writing has over 144.4 million followers cemented his status as one of the most recognizable figures on the planet passing selena gomez who is at 144.3 million with over a million followers in the last few months.
