Dangote Refinery sacks all Nigerian workers
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has sacked all its Nigerian workers less than 24 hours after most of them joined the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN.
The decision was communicated in a memo dated September 25, 2025, signed by the Chief General Manager of Human Asset Management, Femi Adekunle.
The document explained that the action was part of a total re-organisation of the refinery, following reports of sabotage in different units of the plant.
The affected employees were instructed to hand over company property to their line managers and secure exit clearance, while the finance department was directed to compute their benefits and entitlements in line with employment terms.
Management also acknowledged the contributions of the dismissed workers during their time at the refinery.
The development adds to the ongoing dispute between the refinery and PENGASSAN over union membership.
