Nigerian superstar singer Ayo Balogun AKA Wizkid, has come under fire after he bought a N40m Richard Mille Wristwatch for his manager, Sunday Are, which turned out to be reportedly fake.

As his manager turned a year older yesterday the 18 of Nov, the singer had presented him with a Richard Mille’s wristwatch which costs $111,188 (₦40 million)

He had shared a video which showed the moment he presented the gift to his manager. In the video, the singer declared his love for his manager and also went on to say he deserves it.

Moments after the news of the gift broke, reactions started to trail in claiming that Wizkid was not a big money spender and that he would hardly buy such a luxury item for himself much less someone else.

It was then gathered that the watch was the cheap version which cost about $300 from Ali express.

According to a man on Twitter, the color of the straps of the Richard Millie watch are not synonymous with what the company produces.

The twitter user identified as Sunkami wrote:

“Sunkanmi
@blessing4lifee
Baba don Cast
Made in China Richard mille(crack)”

Davido’s boy, Aloma DMW reacted to the news via a series of posts on his Instastory, as he mocked the birthday gift and described it as being fake.

In one of his now deleted posts, Aloma wrote; “Richard awon milli lere leleyi ooo”. In another post, he explained that shoes come in sizes as there is original and there is fake.

Another ‘analyst’ identified as Mike, @michaelhermann_, a Richard Mille Expert gave details as to why the Watch is fake, he also shared photos of how the watch should look. He wrote;

“RM55 don’t have that bezel case color at all. The skeleton movement is much smaller and the dial makers are longer”
