Doctor Kidnapped in Auchi Abu Babatunde regains freedom (VIDEO)

Dr. Abu Babatunde, one of the two doctors kidnapped in Auchi, Edo State, has regained his freedom after spending 13 days in captivity.

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Edo North chapter, confirmed his release in a statement on Wednesday, saying he was freed and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

In a video seen by Dockaysworld, the doctor was observed hobbling and seemingly in need of medical attention.

The NMA thanked doctors across Edo North and the entire state for their prayers, support and solidarity during the period of his abduction.

Recall that Dr. Babatunde was abducted on January 1, 2026, along City Pride Road in the Igbira Camp area of Auchi, alongside his younger brother.

The kidnappers had demanded a N200 million ransom for their release. The younger brother was later killed, while Dr. Babatunde remained in captivity until his release.

It remains unclear if any ransom was paid to secure the release of the Doctor. The police are yet to release an official statement.
