Drama Unfolds As Prison Officers Attacks NTA Journalists

Prison officers  have reportedly attacked journalists from the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) who were covering a court case at the State High Court in Abakaliki.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), reported that the officers tried to take the journalists’ camera by force. During the struggle, they physically assaulted one of the crew members.

Ejiofor condemned the attack, calling it a violation of press freedom. He urged the head of the Nigerian prison service to take action against the officers involved.

He also questioned why the media was being silenced, especially since the 36 inmates involved in the case had already been cleared of all charges three times.
