The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz Abubakar Malami, before a court in Abuja on multiple terrorism-related charges.
In the charge sheet seen by Dockaysworld, the DSS accused Malami of knowingly abetting terrorism financing by allegedly refusing to prosecute suspected terrorism financiers while he served as Attorney-General in November 2022.
The prosecution also alleged that Malami and his son engaged in preparatory acts of terrorism by unlawfully possessing a Sturm Magnum 17-0101 firearm and ammunition at their residence in Gesse Phase II, Birnin Kebbi, in December 2025.
According to the DSS, items recovered included 16 live Redstar AAA 5.20 cartridges and 27 expended cartridges, all allegedly kept without the required licence, in violation of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and the Firearms Act, 2004.
Malami and Abdulaziz pleaded not guilty to all the counts when the charges were read, after which the prosecution applied for their remand in DSS custody pending trial.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik rejected an oral bail request by the defence, ordered their continued detention with the DSS, and adjourned the case until February 20 for the commencement of trial.
