Edo cabinet members resign after Okpebholo’s ultimatum


Several political appointees in Edo State have resigned following an ultimatum issued by Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The Commissioner for Water Resources and Sanitation, Washington Osifo, stepped down to contest the Uhunmwode/Orhionmwon federal constituency seat currently held by Hon. Billy Osawaru.

Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor, Plus Alile, also resigned. He is seeking to represent the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency.

Osaze Igbinovia, a board member of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission, and Terry Igiebor of the Edo State Audit Commission, also tendered their resignations.

Governor Okpebholo had directed political appointees and civil servants to resign on or before March 1 if they intend to contest elective positions.
