Former Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai has said that he has ways of monitoring phone calls of others, particularly that of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.Â
El-Rufai disclosed this during an interview on Arise News where he spoke about an alleged failed arrest attempt at the airport when he returned to Nigeria.Â
He noted that though his lawyers had attributed the matter to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the attempt was actually orchestrated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission, ICPC.
He stated that the ICPC enlisted the help of the DSS to get him in custody and that they were acting under the orders of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, whom he claimed gave the order.
When queried about the source of his information, El-Rufai stated that he had listened to the phone call where the order was given.
He argued that he had ways of monitoring phone calls and that the government was guilty of doing similar.
