The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano has expelled House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa over allegations of anti-party conduct and refusal to pay mandatory party dues.
The announcement was made on Saturday by the party’s state chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, who said the decision followed Jibrin’s repeated criticism of the NNPP and its leadership.
The lawmaker represents Kiru/Bebeji constituency and was elected under the NNPP platform.

Dungurawa explained that a reconciliation panel had earlier been set up after Jibrin appeared on national television, but claimed the lawmaker worsened the situation by openly declaring loyalty to interests outside the party.
He also accused Jibrin of defaulting on financial obligations, warning that the party may take legal steps to recover unpaid dues.
The expulsion was announced a day after Jibrin suggested he might leave the NNPP, saying he was free to make his own political choices.
Amid speculation that he could return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the NNPP leadership maintained that such a move would not weaken the party, stressing that the Kwankwasiyya movement remains strongly committed to its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
