Viral screenshots of alleged chats between feminist writer Ozzy Etomi and a woman identified as Maki, the ex-partner of Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi, have intensified an already-growing online controversy.
Maki who had leaked her entire chat history with Ozzy to prove that they were indeed friends contrary to Ozzy’s claims, had also called her out earlier over the allegations she’d made against the paystack founder.
The chats exposed information that was private prior to Maki’s leak including both parties admitting to cheating in previous partners.
The screenshots seen by Dockaysworld, dated May 18, 2020, circulated widely on Friday.
They appear to show Etomi discussing the collapse of her marriage and her involvement with another partner.
Her messages read:
“i think he is more concerned with not having a ‘broken home’, also he cheats which spurred the separation, so yeah he is comfortable with the status quo, i cheat too but he doesnt know that. so i am all righteous indignation”
Etomi is also shown describing her marriage as rooted in “boredom” and a “convenient arrangement.”
The alleged chats indicated that both parties had planned to stay married for “five to six years,” have a child, and then file for divorce.
The leak has spread rapidly because it comes in the middle of a separate uproar involving her close associate, Ezra Olubi.
Olubi has been trending for days after disturbing old tweets attributed to him resurfaced, some bordering on inappropriate and “unhinged” themes.
The controversy began when Maki made veiled accusations that many linked to Olubi.
She eventually confirmed that her allegations were about Olubi and said she was ready to face him in court.
Amid the backlash, Olubi deactivated his X account without explanation. He has since been suspended by Paystack, pending investigations into alleged sexual misconduct.
