The federal government has announced that the minimum age for gaining admission into any university or other higher institution in Nigeria is 16 years.
This was made known on Tuesday during the Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which is currently taking place in Abuja.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the age limit must be respected by all institutions across the country.
He warned that any admission processed outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) would be considered illegal, and those behind such actions will be held accountable.
Dr. Alausa stated that the age policy is final and not open for debate.
He also said any school head or official found to be involved in illegal admissions would face legal action.
