FG bans admission, transfer of students into SS3
The federal government has ordered a ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) in both public and private schools across Nigeria.
This decision comes as concerns rise over exam malpractice, including the use of unauthorized centres during national examinations, which have affected the credibility of the country’s education system.
The Federal Ministry of Education stated that the policy will take effect in the 2026/27 academic year.
From that time, admissions and transfers will only be allowed for Senior Secondary School One (SS1) and Senior Secondary School Two (SS2).
No student will be permitted to enter SS3 through admission or transfer under any circumstance.
Officials explained that the measure aims to prevent last-minute student movements intended to gain unfair advantages in exams.
It also seeks to ensure continuous academic monitoring and maintain a proper learning environment.
School owners, principals, and administrators have been instructed to follow the new rules, with violations attracting penalties according to existing education regulations.
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining academic standards, ensuring fairness, and restoring trust in public examinations nationwide.
