The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that the travel ban on popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, known as Kwam 1, will continue indefinitely while an investigation into a recent airport incident remains open.
This was announced following a directive from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who initially ordered a six-month no-fly period for the singer on August 7, 2025.
According to the NCAA, the probe does not have a set completion date and will last until all facts are thoroughly examined.
The investigation centres on an event at an airport where Kwam 1 reportedly carried a bottle of water into a restricted area.
The singer was said to have passed through airport security and accessed the VIP lounge, where he obtained the bottle.
However, before boarding, the liquid was discovered during a second security check, and he was asked to comply with rules by not taking it on board.
It was reported that Kwam 1 did not follow instructions and moved towards the plane with the bottle.
Security officers accompanied him to the aircraft, where the pilot was called to handle the situation.
During this interaction, water splashed on the pilot, causing the pilot to become upset, retreat into the aircraft, and close the door.
The NCAA official in charge of public affairs and consumer protection, Mike Achimugu, said these details come from early findings and that no final decisions will be made until the investigation is fully completed.
He also noted that such cases often involve complex details and are rarely straightforward.
The NCAA has involved the highest legal authorities, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, to ensure a thorough review of the incident involving Kwam 1 and ValueJet airline.
The results of the investigation will be released to the public once all inquiries conclude.
