Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM1, has been blacklisted by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and barred from flying for six months following an incident at the Abuja airport.
The incident occurred on August 5, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport when the artist attempted to board ValueJet flight VK 201.
According to reports, KWAM1 tried to bring a flask containing an unknown liquid onto the aircraft.
When questioned by aviation security and the flight captain, he allegedly refused to surrender the item, insisting it contained prescribed medication.
Things escalated when KWAM1 was said to have poured the contents of the flaskbelieved to be alcoholon a security officer.
He was also accused of obstructing the aircraft by standing in its path while it was preparing to taxi, forcing airport officials to intervene and prevent a potential safety hazard.
The NCAA, after reviewing the incident, imposed a six-month no-fly ban on the musician for violating aviation safety regulations.
The authority also suspended the two pilots involved for initiating departure procedures without resolving the standoff, which could have jeopardized passenger safety.
Reacting to the reports, KWAM1’s media team denied the allegations, claiming the flask contained only water provided at the airport lounge.
They also stated that he never blocked the aircraft or behaved in a threatening manner.
The team further alleged that senior officials of FAAN and ValueJet later apologised to the musician and even offered him a private jet, which he declined.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched an investigation into the incident, assuring the public that safety protocols remain a top priority and will be enforced regardless of a person’s status.
