FG Breaks Silence On What Will Be Done To Officials  Switching Political Parties

The Federal Government has said that switching political parties will not protect any public official from being prosecuted for corruption.

This statement comes after a claim by an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, suggesting that some governors met with officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Ministry of Justice shortly before defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, dismissed the claim as completely false and an attempt to undermine the government’s anti-corruption efforts.

He insisted that neither the EFCC chairman nor the Solicitor General met with any current or former governor as alleged.

The EFCC also denied the accusations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.

Both the government and the EFCC stated their commitment to fighting corruption regardless of political affiliation.
