FG makes new appointment
The Federal Government has appointed Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings, as a member of the National AI Trust.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who shared the news in Abuja.
The decision comes after the Federal Executive Council approved the establishment of the National AI Trust in February 2025.
The trust was created to guide Nigeria’s progress in artificial intelligence, ensuring that the country’s efforts in this area match its wider goals for economic growth, job creation, and foreign investment.
Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede is expected to work with a team of experts who will offer direction on how Nigeria can develop and manage AI tools and platforms.
The Minister of Communications will lead the Trust alongside the Minister of Science, Innovation, and Technology.
Until now, the full list of members had not been made public.
The government said that Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede’s experience in digital innovation and leadership will help move the country forward in this new direction.
His foundation has previously worked with government bodies, including on the Nigeria Web Design Standards project launched in late 2024.
That project aimed to improve how public websites work, focusing on better access, safety, and usability.
