FG secures release of 100 kidnapped St. Mary’s schoolgirls in Niger State


The Federal Government has secured the release of 100 schoolchildren abducted from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State. 

Recall 50 of the kidnapped victims from Niger had managed to escape after the incident out of an initial 315 whom were kidnapped. 

The federal government has now secured the release of 100 of the schoolgirls leaving 265 persons still in captivity. 

Recall that armed bandits had attacked the remote Papiri community on 21 November 2025. They arrived at the school around 2:00 a.m. on motorbikes and operated for nearly three hours.
